4- reasons-to-choose-youtube-ads

Types of YouTube Ads For Small Businesses And When To Use Them?

YouTube was once only known for video content but it has evolved a lot since then. People spend billions of hours on YouTube, making it a video search engine that many people have come to love. YouTube has over 2 billion active users, yes billion with a ‘B’ so it makes sense to advertise here.

How are YouTube Ads different?

YouTube being the second most popular search engine in the world it would totally make sense to advertise here. YouTube has a lot to offer not only as a paid channel to advertise but also can help with organic growth.

With changing times video content has gotten a lot of attention, with its most popular audience being the Millennials and GenZ age groups, who majorly rely on video content to help them make decisions and to understand more about the products/business.

The best thing about YouTube off the top of my head is it’s a lot cheaper to get in front of your target audience and the cost per click is way cheaper than Google Search Ads.

Types of Ads on YouTube

YouTube allows for several types of video advertisements that will fit a variety of video advertising goals.

  • Skippable in-stream video ads – Youtube Ads can be served either before a video or during it. These ads play for a minimum of 5 seconds and then the viewer has the option to skip them. In general, the video ad needs to be a minimum of 12 seconds and it’s recommended to keep it below 3 minutes. One of the perks of this type of YouTube ads is that you’ll only get charged when someone watches at least 30 seconds, the entire ad (for any ad under 30 seconds), or if they click on it.
  • Non-Skippable In-Stream video ads – These youtube ads can also play right before a video or during it, really, the only difference is that there’s not a skip button at all. Considering that a high percentage, somewhere around 76% of people, skip the youtube ads that get served in youtube videos, the non-skippable youtube ad is best when your brand really needs to raise awareness and doesn’t want to risk getting hundreds and thousands of ad skips.
  • Bumper – Youtube Bumper ads are six-second, non-skippable video ads that play right before an actual video. These youtube ads are perfect for anyone with a simple message to get across and don’t need the full production of a minutes-long video.
  • Discovery Ads – Discovery Youtube ads are very different from the three previous ad types. In fact, they are actually really similar to Google search ads, appearing amongst search results in a semi-organic kind of way. These ads help view YouTube as a search engine.
  • Non-Video Ads – YouTube also offers non-video ads for brands that aren’t looking to shell out a big spend. First, you can choose to serve a display ad on the right-hand side of the results while a video is playing. This ad features an image, some text to the right of the image, and a button to click which is redirect to your landing page.

Well, are YouTube Ads worth it then?

YouTube ads are worthwhile and a great way to get your content out in front of a relevant, engaged audience not to mention a new audience that can relate. Yes, video content takes a lot more work and effort, but there are a lot of good reasons why most marketers are moving towards producing more video content.

Overall, YouTube is worth it. You just have to find the right monetization strategy for your business through market research and some trial and error with YouTube ad formats!
